  • Virginia's Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday

For several years now, Virginia has had a sales tax holiday for items needed during a hurricane. This year,  Virginia’s Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday takes place May 25-31, 2012.   You will pay no sales tax during this week on qualifying items like flashlights, batteries and bottled water, priced at $60 or less, or generators priced at $1,000 or less.  To see the full list of items that will be exempt go to Sales Tax Information Center.

This sales tax holiday is in addition to the school days holiday later in August.
